Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas Book Review

This is book number 3 in the Throne of Glass series. This review may contain spoilers for Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight but will not have spoilers for Heir of Fire.

This review is for you if you have read books 1 and 2 and are unsure of continuing with the series or if you have already read the series and want to hear my thoughts on this book.

Synopsis

Celaena Sardothien has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak, but now she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth. That truth could change her life—and her future—forever.

Meanwhile, monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. To defeat them, Celaena will need the strength not only to fight the evil that is about to be unleashed but also to harness her inner demons. If she is to win this battle, she must find the courage to face her destiny—and burn brighter than ever before.

Review

These books just keep getting better and better. If you are unsure about continuing with the series after the first 2 books, I recommend giving this book a chance since it was really good.

We learn so much about Celaena and her past in this book and get to experience more magic as Celaena grows stronger as a person and confronts her fears.

So many new characters are introduced in this book since we are in a completely new setting. One of those characters is Rowan who I absolutely love. He trains Celaena to use her magic.

I was intrigued from the start of this book by Celaena’s POV because we are exploring a new side of her that we didn’t get in the last books.

I loved Celaena’s POV but I kind of hated the witch’s POV. It felt like a completely different book and was boring because I had no idea who the characters really were and how they were fitting into the story.

Chaol and Dorian’s POV were a little better but I still wasn’t very interested in their part of the story. Celaena’s new life was just too exciting and I wanted nothing to do with anyone else. It got a little better by the end of the book because we were getting more of Celaena’s POV and less of the others. The other POVs were also making a little more sense by the end.

The plot continues to thicken in this book and the King seems to be getting more and more evil if that is even possible.

The ending was very interesting and I’m excited to continue with the series. I agree with everyone else when they say the 3rd book is when it really starts to get good. The series is living up to the hype so far and I definitely recommend.
